Letterkenny Rovers 1 - 6 Gweedore Celtic

The Rovers team faced a tough battle from the start in their opening game of the U12 SFAI, playing Gweedore Celtic at home.

Gweedore was strong and energetic from the start and controlled most of the possession in the first half.

Rovers defended strong and stopped countless attacks in the first half, but conceded 1 goal breaking the deadlock.

Gweedore were much more dominant in the second half, with the intensity and chasing of the ball taking its toll on Rovers, with legs starting to give up, seeing the away team score 5 goals in the second half.

Tiarnan Connolly pulled one back for Rovers from a great assist from Josh Buchanan.

Man of the Match was Noah Wilkie for an outstanding performance in goals. Without him, the score line would have been in the double digits.

But with huge respect to the Rovers team who fought hard from the first to the last whistle and gave it their all, the coaching team is very proud of their performance.

U12 SECOND DIVISION Bonagee Tigers 3 - 1 Letterkenny United

(Not Pictured Ruairi Gardiner)

It wasn't to be the United teams day in Goose Green playing against an energetic and hungry Bonagee Side.

From the first whistle the team faced pressure and had to battle hard to intercept and then keep possession once once.

Bonagee broke the deadlock with a well finished goal, but Letterkenny came back hard and equalized from the quick reactions of Jack Robb after a Bonagee rebound, finding the back of the net.

But another good combination play seen Bonagee pull ahead again.

And it was a penalty to finish up the scoring for the day at 3 - 1.

The team played their best, but just couldn't contain Bonagee who were hungrier for the win and wanted it more.

Righan McElwaine picked up Man of the match for his strong performance covering many positions on the field and a special mention to Noah Wilkie and Theo Minnock without them the score line would have reflected very different.

The coaching team are very proud of what the team achieved this year as so should they, each and every player has improved in fitness, drive, determination and Footballing ability.
