Letterkenny Rovers A 3 - 1 Illistrin

Goalscorers: Caitlin McBrearty x2, Savanna Keys.

Illistrin got of the the dream start when Amilea McLaughlin raced onto a long ball by Tayla Doherty. Rovers can thank Lily Gallagher for her double save from a penalty and the rebound as Illistrin pushed hard to extend the lead. Just before half time Caitlin McBrearty equalised after a great ball by Savanna Keys. Rovers came out strong in the second half with Scarlet Graham going close twice however Tayla Doherty saved well for Illistrin. Erin Rafferty block a good effort from Illistrin’s Eabha McKinney. Laila Devenney went close with a header following a corner. Mary Stan-Mako chases down a ball to pass to Caitlin McBreaty to take the lead for Rovers. As time was running out Savanna Keys got her goal after an evening of hard work.

U12 GIRLS

Letterkenny Rovers 2 - 1 Bonagee United

We hosted Bonagee U12 in a real competitive local derby.

Rovers got off to a great start with 2 early goals from Caitlin McBrearty and Scarlet Graham going in 2 - 0 at half time. A determined Bonagee came out the second half pushing Rovers back creating a number of good chances. As Bonagee pushed Rovers nearly caught them out on the counter attack with Savannah Keys coming close a number of times. Both defences holding strong. In the last minute Bonagee were rewarded for their hard work with a goal from Eabha Gribben. It’s impossible to single anyone from both teams as every player played their part.

Well done to both teams.

This week saw us fielding two girls teams at u12. Both teams playing Ballyraine.

Game 1
Ballyraine 1:0 Letterkenny Rovers
A real competitive game played in Orchard Park. A very closely contested game with both teams getting the best out of the goal Keepers. We conceded a penalty on 25mins but Caitlin McBrearty with a great save but Hanna Carty reacted quickest to the rebound. Savannah Keys came close from a strike from distance but was brilliantly tipped over the bar by Ballyraine’s goalkeeper and Scarlett Graham came close with minutes to go but Holly Gordon saved again. Overall good team performance for Rovers.

Well done to Letterkenny Athletic winning the U12 Division 2 League cup in a closely contested battle with Illistrin Celtic.

Letterkenny Athletic were 1 up at half time and pushed on to win 3-0 by the final whistle.

U12 FIRST DIVISION

Gweedore Celtic 1 - 1 Letterkenny Crusaders(pictured).

It was as all even at the end of Fulltime, Josh Buchanan scoring for Crusaders, meaning the game had to be decided by penalties and unfortunately the boys were unlucky to lose the penalty shootout.
