Under 14s

U14s Champions League final awaits

Congratulations to the U14 Premier side on securing a place in the Under 14 Champions League final.

The Semi Final was a 2 legged event against Mulroy Academy with Rovers winning the first leg 2-1 and second leg 5-2.

Not the ideal start in the 2nd leg with Mulroy getting the boost they needed scoring 15mins in putting the pressure on Rovers to need to work harder if they wanted to be sure of the place in the final.

The equalizer came just before the the end of the first half from a Ronan Tinney free kick.

The second half seen Rovers starting to play much better. Tinney once again got on the scoresheet this time from a corner, and a minute later great work from Helden Carvalho got him Rovers third.

Mulroy managed to pull another one back on 50minutes from Kai Corcoran. Rovers continued to push and Colm Og Breathnach wrapped up the contest with 2 further goals for Rovers making it 5-2 on the final whistle.

Next up the Champions League final where the lads will meet Donegal Town.

Its been a great season for the lads and well deserved for them to get to the final.

Letterkenny Rovers defeat in SFAI Cup

The U14 lads suffered defeat to a strong Donegal Town side losing out 4-0.

It was a toughly contested battle and Rovers will feel the score line was not a reflection on the game, having multiple chances themselves and indeed 2 cleared from the goal line.

They continued to battle all the way to the final whistle and should be proud the effort and will dust themselves off now and continue their Champions League campaign will Mulroy Academy next up in the coming week.

Gweedore Celtic 0 - 1 Letterkenny Rovers Champions League group game

I was an end to end battle on the night, with Rovers have the advantage of the wind at their backs for the first half. Impact sub Colm Og Breatnach literally only on the field 20 minutes in and weaves some magic inside the box to break the deadlock and secure what was to be the only goal in the game. The second half Rovers against the wind played some great football and were unlucky on a number of chances to further the lead. Final whistle 0-1 Letterkenny Rovers.

After the match the team congratulated Kurt Obanor on getting selected for the DUL 2011s and we all wish him well for the year ahead.

SFAI U15 Cup First Round win for Rovers

Bonagee Utd. 3 - 5 Letterkenny Rovers

A thrilling encounter in the Dry Arch on Thursday night 26th Sept 2024 as a local derby clash between Bonagee and Letterkenny Rovers would keep the crowd on the edge of the seats.

Rovers couldn't have asked for a better start when they shocked the home side in the 1st minute through some magic by Helden Carvalho on the edge of the 18th yard box weaving past 2 and smashing home.

To make things better on 5 mins Rovers were to find the net again from a great ball towards the back post from Carvalho, and head back across goal by Jamie Gorman for Thalji Al Daher to volley into the goal.

Bonagee responded on 7 minutes working the ball well through the Rovers defense and giving them the boost they needed to settle into the game and although there were chances at either end the half would end 2-1 to Letterkenny Rovers.

Bonagee worked hard going into the second half and found the equalizer 9 minutes in making it 2-2.

10 min Kristian Evangelista who was threateningly close on a number of occasions managed to strike well from about 20yards sneaking inside the post giving Rovers the lead once again.

The work rate from both sides was great and Bonagee managed to once again pull back an equalizer 26 minutes into the second half.

Both sides were really going for it and this was leading to opportunities on the counter.

It wasn't until the final minute of normal time when Rovers would get the lead once again when awarded a penalty that was well despatched by Ronan Tinney into the top left corner.

Rovers continued to push and 2 minutes into injury time sealed it off when Thalji Al Daher claimed his second of the game.

Rovers advance to the next round after a hard but well earned victory on the night.
