Letterkenny Rovers 3 - 2 Boyle Celtic
it was a closely contested battle on the grass pitch at Leckview, with little separating the sides and goals chances at either end.
Rovers got of the mark first on 26minutes from the penalty spot when Padraig Murphy was taken down in the box.
Clinically taken giving the home team a 1 nil lead.
Boyle were quick to respond on 29 minutes we awarded a free kick from 20 yards out. A well stroke kick past the wall into the net levelled things up again.
Rovers got off to a good start in the second half with Odhran Kelly finding himself on the left wing and continued to go forward taking it past several players before crossing into the box. A dummy by Jack Riseley let the ball make its way to Fionn McLaughlin to smash it home.
6 minutes later and a ball from the center of the field over the Rovers defense was chased by Boyle number 11 who managed to get a touch before the advance of Rovers keeper Davin Blake putting it over his head and finding the net. All equal again 2-2.
It wasn't until the 84th minute where the winning goal came from a foul on Fionn McLaughlin with the referee pointing to the penalty spot.
Up stepped young Padraig Murphy once again and yet again dispatched it well giving Rovers the lead.
Well done to the lads, who advance to the next round of the cup.
