This past weekend, Letterkenny Rovers FC hosted an unforgettable series of events that brought the community together and celebrated our love for football.

The event, featuring Manchester United Legends such as Jaap Stam and Frank Stapleton, was a resounding success from start to finish. Here's a recap of the memorable weekend.

Golf Classic at Rosapenna Hotel and Golf Resort

The weekend kicked off with a Golf Classic at the stunning Rosapenna Hotel and Golf Resort sponsored by the Brewery Bar Letterkenny. Attendees were treated to a day of friendly competition, playing alongside the Manchester United Legends. The weather was perfect, and the scenic course provided a beautiful backdrop for the event. Participants enjoyed photo opportunities and a meal with the Legends, making for an unforgettable experience. The camaraderie and sportsmanship displayed set the tone for the rest of the weekend.

Meet and Greet at Voodoo Venue

Saturday morning brought excitement and anticipation as fans gathered at the Voodoo Venue for a Meet and Greet with the Legends. Over 300 attendees had the chance to meet their football heroes, take photos, and even get autographs. The Manchester United Treble Winning Trophies were on display, adding a touch of history to the event. The Legends were gracious and engaging, making it a special moment for every fan in attendance.

Legends Match at Leckview Park

The main event of the weekend was the Legends Match at Leckview Park, where Manchester United Legends took on a select team from Letterkenny Rovers. The atmosphere was electric, with around 1,000 spectators filling the grounds. The match began with a special opening ceremony, including a ribbon-cutting by a Annette Kelly, wife of the late Dessie Kelly our past Chairman. Underage mascots led the players onto the field, and they returned at halftime for a mini-game. Voodoo Venue were officially main sponsors for the event.

Century Complex sponsored the Letterkenny Rovers Select kit, and Arena 7 sponsored the Match Ball.

The match itself was thrilling, showcasing the skills and sportsmanship of both teams. The Legends demonstrated why they are still considered some of the best in the sport, and the Rovers select team put up a commendable performance. The match ended 6-6, and it was particularly special as it marked Frank Stapleton’s final game with the Legends. After the match, fans had the opportunity to interact with the Legends, rounding off an incredible afternoon.

Gala Dinner at Mount Errigal Hotel

The weekend concluded with a Gala Dinner at the Mount Errigal Hotel, an elegant event that brought together fans, players, and supporters. The evening began with a delicious meal, followed by a Q&A session with the Legends hosted by Master of Ceremonies for the night Charlie Collins. Guests had the opportunity to ask questions and hear stories from the players' illustrious careers. The night continued with an auction of special items and memorabilia, which was a great success, raising funds for the club.

The event ended on a high note with live music and dancing, creating a festive atmosphere that lasted well into the night. It was the perfect way to celebrate a weekend of football, community, and shared memories.
