FAI COACH Registration
All Club Members, Coaches, Volunteers involved in football in Republic of Ireland must be registered with the Football Association of Ireland (FAI). There a few steps to complete the process and can depend on things like age, nationality for how long it takes to process and what information may be requested.
We request that no images of passports, birth certs or details such as dates of birth be shared directly with coaches or admin staff through WhatsApp or similar. Instead follow the steps below.
Please use the forms referenced below to upload images and other details so that it can be managed more effectively by the club registrar.
What you will Need to Complete the form:
To complete the form you will need to have a
- A photo of the Coach/Volunteer(head and shoulder type photo).
- An ID document(Passport or Driving License)
- Your Comet ID if you have already registered on FAI Comet for Garda Vetting/Safeguarding. If you need to find it, login to https://faiconnect.ie/mycomet/ go to the My Profile page, it will be displayed at the top just below your name.
Lets get started:
1. Provide your details
Use the below button to load the details.
You will need to include a photo of you and an identification document(such as passport or driving license).
Note: If the images are blurred, not clear, you will be asked to resubmit all details again, since we cannot send on to FAI).
2. Club generates registration form
When you provide the details in step 1 above, the club registrar will use this information to enter your details into the FAI system.
Once this is entered you will receive an email with a registration form attached(pdf).
Please allow 1 week for the club to process your request.
3. Sign and return Registration form
The registration form needs to be signed and dated.
Note: Volunteers Under 18, the printed and signed name should be that of the Parent or Guardian (not the child). If the images are blurred, not clear, you will be asked to resubmit again, since we cannot send on to FAI).

4. Club submits the signed Registration form to the FAI
The club registrar will upload the signed form to the FAI for processing.
Depending on the request it can vary greatly in terms of time to complete the process on the FAI side especially if international clearance is required.
The Club registrar will communicate with you if any further details are requested.
5. Coach/Volunteer is Confirmed
When the FAI completes its review and if all is in order, they will inform the Club that you are Approved.
At this point the Coach/Volunteer will be eligible to be added to any competitions that are run under the Jurisdiction of the FAI.
6. Can I coach now?
Completing the FAI registration form is just one of the requirements. This will enable you to be added to Teamsheets for matches and also keep a records of all your coaching qualifications.
Before to you can coach with underage players you must also
1. Completing a Garda Vetting application
2. Complete a Safe Gaurding 1 Course
3. Complete an FAI course specific to the age group you are going to be coaching with.
