FAI Player Registration
Everyone playing football in Republic of Ireland must be registered with the Football Association of Ireland (FAI).
There a few steps to complete the process and it can vary depending on things like age, where the child was born and nationality.
We request that no images of passports, birth certs or details such as dates of birth be shared directly with coaches on tools such as WhatsApp or similar.
Please use the forms referenced below to upload images and other details so that it can be managed more effectively by the club registrar.
1. Provide Player/Parent details
Use the below button to load the details.
You will need to include a photo of the player and an identification document for the player(such as passport or birth cert).
Note: If the images are blurred, not clear, you will be asked to resubmit all details again, since we cannot send on to FAI).
2. Club generates registration form
When you provide the details in step 1 above, the club registrar will use this information to enter the player details into the FAI system.
Once this is entered you will receive an email with a registration form attached(pdf).
Please allow 1 week for the club to process your request.
3. Sign and return Registration form
The registration form needs to be signed.
Note: for players Under 18, the printed and signed name should be that of the Parent or Guardian (not the child). If the image are blurred, not clear, you will be asked to resubmit again, since we cannot send on to FAI).
Upload the signed registration form using the below button.
4. Club submits the signed Registration form to the FAI
The club registrar will upload the signed form to the FAI for processing.
Depending on the request it can vary greatly in terms of time to complete the process on the FAI side especially if international clearance is required.
The Club registrar will communicate with Coaches if any further details are requested.
5. Player is Confirmed to play
When the FAI completes its review and if all is in order, they will inform the Club that the player is Approved.
The Club Treasurer will then process fee, and the player will then be confirmed.
At this point the player will be eligible to be added to any competitions that are run under the Jurisdiction of the FAI.
